Call them what you will, iphone “killers,” “clones” or “copycats.” There are a lot of similar looking devices out there that seem to have a lot in common with the iPhone. Out latest gem is the Pi Phone from Deeda.
At first glance the interface is strikingly similar to that of the iPhone. It apparently has similar functions as well. If you check out there site you can see demos of some of those functions. Or at least you can see where the demos are supposed to be, at last check the videos were down. Don’t be surprised if the entire site is down when you go to check it out either. It has been difficult to access of late. Makes you wonder if they can’t keep their website up, how can they build a solid phone?
The device is said to be open-source which is good for all of the Linux fans out there. But I don’t really see any substance to this device. All we have are a couple of shots of the phone and a brief description. According to the picture, they have been running on T-Mobile since December 31, 2006. No word from T-Mobile on whether or not they’ll actually be carrying this phone when (or if) it comes out.
